| How To Obtain Detail Financial Information
|
The financial information provided on IRS Form 1098-T is intended to serve as a guide when preparing your personal income tax return. Taxpayers are responsible for maintaining adequate financial records to support any claim for an education tax credit or deduction. Students may request a report of the qualified expenses paid and scholarship/grants reported in summary on Form 1098-T by following the instructions below.
Students with access to OneStart Student Self-Service
For Form 1098-T - Tax years 2009 and beyond
- Authenticate to Student Self-Service through OneStart
- Click on the "Services" tab
- Locate "Services & Information"
- Locate "Financial"
- Select "Tax Form 1098T E-Consent and Detail(2009 and beyond)"
- Select the Tax Year(s) PDF for the 1098-T Details and electronic financial summary
- Retrieve, review, save, or print the details for your records
Financial Details for 2006, 2007, or 2008 Form 1098-T
- Authenticate to Student Self-Service through OneStart.
- Locate "Services & Information".
- Locate "Financial".
- Select "Tax Form 1098T Detail (2008 and earlier)"
- Select an available calendar year (limited to 2006 through 2008)
- Retrieve, review, save, or print the details for your records
Students without access to OneStart Student Self-Service
Financial Details for All Form 1098-T Years
- Complete a duplicate tax form request available as a Fillable PDF and indicate you want the 1098-T financial details
- Mail or fax the completed request to the address listed on the form
Parents, Taxpayers, and Tax Preparers
- Form 1098-T is subject to sensitive data and privacy procedures and is governed by federal and state privacy laws.
- Tax information will only be provided at the request of the student after obtaining confirmation of identity.
- If you require Form 1098-T or detail information to prepare an income tax return, please contact the student and ask that
they follow the procedure for obtaining the relevant data.
- Ask your student if they have access to Student Self-Service in OneStart. If the answer is yes, you may want to ask the student to grant you 3rd party access so you may view and download their Form 1098-T.
