How do I handle Holidays for biweekly employees in the Payroll Voucher?
|
PeopleSoft is programmed with the IU Holiday calendar. Holidays will automatically appear in the 'Other Earnings' section on your Biweekly payroll vouchers in the week during which the holiday falls.
Note: Please remember that you must wait until after TIME is loaded to update the vouchers. If you add earnings (like hourly vacation) to the vouchers before TIME loads the night before payroll closing, your entry will be ‘written over’ by the timesheet record.
If the employee used the holiday on the day designated for that holiday on
the IU Calendar then you do not have to make any modifications to the Holiday
under 'Other Earnings.'
If the employee accrued the Holiday for later use, change the HOL earn code to HAC and enter 12 hours as shown below. The employees Attendance Leave Balances will be updated to reflect this accrual.
Note: If the hours are being accrued for a "non-premium" holiday (such as Martin Luther King Day, Campus Holiday, or the day after Thanksgiving), you would accrue 8 hours.
If the employee worked the Holiday and is going to be paid overtime for it, delete the HOL row under other earnings by clicking the "-" button on the far right side of the row. Then add the correct number of hours in the 'Overtime Hours' box as shown below.
