| How can I access the FIS from off-campus? |
To remove a payroll encumbrance, the departmental eDoc initiator must process a Maintain Funding eDoc. After the eDoc is fully approved, the encumbrance will be removed the next time a payroll is processed for that employee type (either bi-weekly or monthly paid). Call the eDoc Manager at University Human Resource Services (UHRS) with any questions at (812) 855-4120.
If you are not currently an on-campus FIS (Financial Information System) user, you must follow the “Instructions for Accessing Your Applications” under the link for FIS Deployment Instructions on the FIS Support Center page.
Steps 1 (Obtain a Domain Account) and 2 (Join a Global Group) of the instructions must be completed before any FIS access may be granted (on- or off-campus). Step 3, Install the ICA Client, must be completed separately for each computer or device you will use to access the FIS, both at work and off-campus.
Next, for all FIS users, to access the FIS from off-campus, you must install the VPN service on each computer or device you will use. Instructions for installing VPN are at Using IU’s SSL VPN service for off-campus connections Contact your campus UITS Support Center if you have any problems with these instructions.
When you have completed all of the above steps (obtain a domain account, join a global group, install the ICA client, and install VPN), you are ready to access the FIS from your off-campus device. You must always connect to the VPN first. When your VPN connection is active, then you can log into the FIS through OneStart.
[Note: If you have not been set up as a user in the FIS, you will not be able to log in. New FIS users should check with their supervisors if unable to launch the FIS.]
